In the 1st century, an imperial doctor in Rome
recorded the healing functions of Aloe Vera: cure venereal diseases,
hemorrhoids, jaundice; sterilize stomach; heal wounds or even wash
the eyes.
Aloe Vera was widely used as medicine throughout
Europe, it was even found in the German medical record in 12th
century. However, there is no record when Aloe Vera was being
introduced to Japan. Aloe Vera was introduced to China through the
Silk Road, a medical report in Sung Dynasty wrote, 'Tong poet Lou Yu
Xi had been suffered from eczema, but was immediately cured when
applied with gel found in Aloe Vera'. The 'Compendium of Mattering
Medica' published in Ming Dynasty indicated: Aloe Vera crème was
made in Persia, it was a maltose like resin in black color.
In the recent 200 years, Aloe Vera has given rise
to much controversy. From the past 20 years, a number of studies
about Aloe Vera have been reported due to the medical recognition of
Aloe Vera and the understanding of its function, some even predicted
that Aloe Vera would prosper in the future.
